The Maltese presidency hosts the conference "Counter-narratives: how to support civil society in delivering effective positive narratives against hate speech online” on 6-7 April in Malta.

This conference focus on the importance of delivering effective positive narratives to counter online hate speech and also focus on the role of the EU and the Member States to support civil society in that endeavour.

FSG is invited to participate, together with Oberaxe (Spanish Racism and Xenophobia observatory), in a panel on institutional support to civil society and how to produce positive counter narratives.

The FSG participation will take advantage of the opportunity to make visible our work as coordinator of the “Victims of racial or ethnic discrimination support service” as well as the problem of the antigypsyist online speech. In addition, our colleague will present our latest awareness raising campaigns.

The discussions of the conference will contribute to foster activities of the EU and Member States in supporting civil society initiatives to spreading counter narratives online; promote replicable best practices and experiences from different stakeholders in Europe and foster cooperation among stakeholders (public authorities, civil society and businesses) to jointly develop effective counter narratives.
