The FSG presented the study on the impact of the first wave of COVID 19 on the Roma population in Spain, as well as the conclusions drawn and recommendations within the pannel that the event dedicated to the impact of the pandemic on the Roma population in Europe.

European Coalition (which FSG is part) call on the European Commission to ensure that commitments made under the EU Strategic Framework on Roma are held at the highest standards, and demand Member States to adopt an EU Council Recommendation supporting national Roma strategies to bring real justice and equality and ensure meaningful Roma participation at all levels and walks of life.

The aim of the session was to reflect on and debate the best ways of eradicating the school segregation of Roma pupils, based on the measures already put in place by some public authorities. School segregation represents a significant barrier to educational success for Roma pupils, as well as being a form of discrimination and an infringement of the right of Roma boys and girls to high-quality, inclusive education.
