The Hungarian State Secretary for Social inclusion visits the Fundación Secretariado Gitano to get to know key measures targeting the Roma in Spain [editar]

Zoltán Balog, the Hungarian State Secretary for Social inclusion, -and delegation- visited Spain on the 7th and 8th of June with a particular interest on the policies targeting the Roma in our country. The objective of the visit was to learn by firsthand the situation of the Spanish Roma and identify good initiatives.

The State Secretary met with relevant stakeholders from the Government at local and national level as well as from the civil society, including a visit to the Fundación Secretariado Gitano offices in Seville where the Acceder programme was presented. In this occasion, the Hungarian representatives had the chance to meet the FSG’s local team to overview the Acceder methodology and dialogue with beneficiaries of the programme.

Furthermore, Mr. Balog visited the FSG’s head offices in Madrid where he could get to know the main lines of intervention of our organization, with a special focus on the education programme Promociona and other relevant social inclusion actions. This meeting was jointly organized with the IRIS (Institute for Reallocation and Social Integration of Madrid) and the participants had the opportunity to overview the main lines of work of the Institute followed by a field visit to the Santa Catalina settlement.
