  • The seal provides clarity and added confidence to donors, certifying that Fundación Secretariado Gitano focuses its efforts on areas in which it has experience, that its communication is reliable, and that it publicly discloses the percentage of expenses allocated to its mission, among other indicators.
  • The Fundación Secretariado Gitano fully complies with the 9 Principles of Transparency and Good Practice and stands out as an organisation committed to transparency and efficient management.

Fundación Lealtad, an independent, non-profit institution, has awarded Fundación Secretariado Gitano the ‘Donate with Confidence’ seal. This is a unique distinction in Spain that helps donors clearly and easily recognise NGOs that meet current requirements for transparency and effective management. Thanks to the seal, donors will know that Fundación Secretariado Gitano focuses its efforts on areas in which it has experience, that its communication is reliable and not misleading, and that they can find out the percentage of expenditure allocated to its mission, among other indicators.

The accreditation was granted following an analysis by Fundación Lealtad, which concluded that Fundación Secretariado Gitano fully complies with the 9 Principles of Transparency and Good Practice. ‘The Foundation has verified, among other points, the proper functioning of the NGO's governing body in fulfilling its responsibilities and the effective use of its resources, whether the entity is sustainable and whether its communication is reliable, as well as the consistency of its activities with its mission of general interest,’ said Patricia de Roda, director general of Fundación Lealtad.

The nine principles analysed bring together more than 40 indicators of transparency and good practice. The complete information with the results of the analysis of Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG) can be consulted by clicking here.

‘Transparency is one of the fundamental principles governing the FSG and, in this regard, we publicly disclose the actions we take and promote public awareness of our results, the financial resources invested and their origin,’ says Isidro Rodríguez, deputy director and legal representative of the FSG. ‘After 14 years of participating in the analyses on transparency and good practices carried out and published by the Lealtad Foundation, we are renewing our commitment by joining this new stage of accreditation, which culminates in the awarding of the “Accredited NGO” seal to the NGOs analysed. We receive this seal with pride and gratitude to those who place their trust in the FSG,’ concludes Rodríguez.

The ‘Donate with Confidence’ seal is valid for two years and the Fundación Secretariado Gitano is authorised to use it in its communication and fundraising materials. "Spanish society has evolved and is now more demanding of all institutions, including NGOs. With the Fundación Lealtad seal, citizens and businesses will recognise the Fundación Secretariado Gitano as an NGO to which they can donate with added confidence," said de Roda.

The ‘Donate with Confidence’ seal and its rigorous award process are backed by the experience of the Lealtad Foundation, which since 2001 has analysed more than 270 NGOs and produced more than 1,000 reports on transparency and good practices. Its methodology has been recognised nationally and internationally. NGOs of different profiles are eligible for accreditation: associations and foundations, large and small, that carry out development cooperation and humanitarian action projects, care for disadvantaged groups in Spain and the environment.
