This week we received a visit from Apprentis d'Auteuil, an NGO with more than 150 years of history, which works for the education and employment of young people in France.

A delegation of 14 professionals from Apprentis d'Auteuil met this week with representatives from the areas of employment and innovation of the Fundación Secretariado Gitano to learn more about our programmes to improve the digital skills of Roma people.

Digital skills are essential in the world today and even more when talking about employment and education. In recent years, the Fundación Secretariado Gitano, within the framework of the Acceder employment programme, has carried out extensive work in this area to ensure that Roma people are not left out of technological development and have the same opportunities to access jobs and develop their digital skills. In this sense, the French delegation could learn about some of the tools and programmes that we have been using in this time:

  • Emplea + and Aula Digital, for skills guidance and training (both developed in the framework of the initiative “Together for the employment of the most vulnerable”, of the Accenture Foundation),
  • the Empleando Digital and Empleando Digital + programmes, with their experiences of experimental training and training in the technology sector for people with low qualifications,
  • Campus Gitanos.org: the FSG's online training platform, which includes specific courses and materials for participants in our programmes and for professionals,
  • virtual reality as a complement to training.

We hope that this visit has served as inspiration and that learnings can be applied to the reality of the neighbouring country, in order to improve the situation of its most vulnerable young people.
