Political advocacy [editar]

Our advocacy work aims to contribute to regulatory frameworks and public policies that guarantee the rights of Roma on equal terms. To this end, we work to raise awareness of the human rights situation of Roma on the general political agenda at local, regional, national and European level. As a civil society organisation, the FSG plays a significant role in monitoring public policies and participating in the design and implementation of laws that are appropriate to the socio-economic reality of the Roma population.

The Fundación Secretariado Gitano's political advocacy strategy is carried out in parallel at the local, national, regional and European levels, communicating our political priorities to the various public authorities. We play an active role as a bridge between the Roma population and the public authorities in relation to the fulfilment and exercise of their rights as citizens.

The FSG carries out its work by participating in the development of transformative public policies that combat poverty, inequality and discrimination affecting the Roma population, from a human rights-based approach. We do this by monitoring public authorities, engaging in dialogue with them about their governance, demanding accountability, and calling for and demanding the fulfilment of their obligations towards the Roma population.

We denounce situations of exclusion and violation of rights. We analyse the reality by collecting data and producing reports that show the reality of exclusion and discrimination against Roma. We establish priorities and convey their demands, ensuring that their individual and collective interests are included in the legislative initiatives and public policies carried out by each and every public administration.
