The Fundación Secretariado Gitano in collaboration with Accenture launches specialized training in Mobile Application Programming

Technology has transformed the labour market and programmers continues to be one of the occupations most demanded by the sector due to its transversality.

Programming forms the basis of many of the systems and the business’ hearts of many companies.

From the Fundación Secretariado Gitano we have launched several courses with different programming languages as standard (JAVASCRIPT; JAVA; HTML; Python...) with the aim that the young Roma who take part in these trainings occupy those positions that the market demands.

On this occasion, on 3 July, the Fundación Secretariado Gitano in collaboration with Accenture has launched a specialized training in Mobile Application Programming.

In this edition we have the participation, motivation and commitment of 12 Roma participants (7 men and 5 women) who were chosen from a total of 30 young Roma who faced the selection process.

The presence of 5 women in the training is a milestone in the FSG (approaching almost to male/female parity) and a step forward to minimize the gender gap that exists in a world, that of technology, traditionally very masculinized.

The training will take place in a period of over 3 months with a duration of 270 theoretical hours and 100 hours of work experience in companies will follow, in which the participants of this course will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned.

This training is carried out in a 100% online format with content hosted on different training platforms (among them, Accenture's Fundaula) with the full-time supervision, reinforcement and guidance of an expert trainer in the development of mobile applications for both Android and IOS and with extensive experience in the field of training, consulting and application development.

This 100% online format has allowed us to form a group of participants from the Fundación Secretariado Gitano distributed throughout the country and who come from Alicante, Avilés, Badajoz, Barcelona, Huelva, Jaen, Jerez, Málaga, Mieres, Murcia and Oviedo.

The training is carried out thanks to the Empleando Digital + programme co-financed by the Accenture Foundation and the Programme for social inclusion and the social economy of the European Social Fund.

Accenture has also supported us in the preparation of the training pathway with the choice and validation of the contents that make up the course that has the support of Iniciativas Europeas de Formación S.L. as a training company specialized in technology that makes the teacher and its training platform available to our participants as a place to teach classes to deepen the content and a space for collaborative learning and teamwork.
