The experiences and sucessfull examples of those students who already completed secondary education and continue their education, serve as role model for the young students.
This national encounter gathered Roma students from across Spain. Most of them are participants of the FSG´s educative programme “Promociona: to the academic success of the Roma community”, others already completed secondary school and now are in post compulsory educative levels, also there were the beneficiaries of the “Luis Saez scholarships” for Roma women in post graduate studies.
During the encounter, the students were able to share space for debate and reflecting about their educative situation and share their experiences to make as role model for other younger students. Also this meeting aims to reinforce the idea that Roma identity is not something that you lose when you study.
There´s no doubt of the growing motivation and implication that Roma families and youngsters have to finish their compulsory education and continue their education. Education is a motor of social change and this will create better life possibilities for Roma population and break the stereotypes that suffer in their life.
