The Python programming course, organised by Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG) in collaboration with the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), offers 600 hours of specialised training and certification through micro-credentials.

On 11 November, the opening session of the Python Programming course was held, a training programme that marks a new milestone in the FSG's commitment to employment opportunities for the Roma in the technology sector. This course is run by our Acceder employment programme in collaboration with the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).

This specialised course offers a 600-hour online training programme, covering everything from the fundamentals of Python programming and essential data structures and libraries to the implementation of data projects and applications. The course is being taken by 15 participants, most of whom are Roma (87%), from 12 Spanish localities.

The training will run from November 2025 to May 2026, following the line of technology courses that we have been promoting at FSG since 2018 and which have yielded such good results in terms of job placement and educational return. This new edition comes with some important new features: it incorporates the UOC as a training partner, offering its teaching excellence; training based on European micro-credentials recognised at European level; learning in Python, a highly sought-after programming language; personalised tutoring and practical projects; and all this with the support and funding of Accenture within the framework of the Training for a Digital Future project.

During the welcome session, participants were given an explanation of how the UOC Virtual Campus works and how to access the resources available to ensure quality learning. Upon completion of the course, participants will obtain three official certifications in Python programming, endorsed by three university microcredentials.

This course opens the door to the technology sector, a constantly growing field that offers quality career opportunities and a promising future.
