For the right to education of Roma children and youth
Although the educational level of the Roma students has improved significantly in recent years, the gap between the educational situation of the Roma community and the population as a whole is very large. While 64.4% of Roma students between 16 and 24 years of age do not complete compulsory education (they do not graduate from ESO), the average of boys and girls in this age is 13, 3%.
In order to reverse this situation and guarantee the right to education, Fundación Secretariado Gitano works with the aim of reducing school failure and promoting the school success of Roma students beyond the compulsory stage. That is why in 2009 we launched the Promociona program, whose results over the years have shown that with the support and adapted educational guidance, Roma students can successfully complete their compulsory studies and access post-compulsory studies.
