The exhibition of the works of Luis Sáez begins on May 25 in the Courts of Castile and Leon, Valladolid. This is intended to highlight the artistic trajectory of the painter in addition to getting funding with the sale of the works for the Luis Sáez Scholarship Project.

Luis Sáez Scholarships Project is born precisely with the donation of 284 works of art (Oils, engravings, drawings and sketches) in 2016 by Javier Sáez, son of the artist, as well as FSG worker. When the painter was young he received a scholarship to study higher education in Madrid, this grant was decisive for his training and the subsequent success of his work. With this project the work of Luis Saéz returns to the society turned into scholarships for the education of Roma women giving new opportunities for those who want to make postgraduate studies.

This project is led by the FSG with the collaboration of the Villalar Castilla y León Foundation and the Foundation of Universities of Education of Castilla y León. The main objective is to provide Roma women with financial support and academic guidance to complete a successful long-term educational career.

The presence of the Roma community in the university is very limited: less than 1% of Roma people have a university degree, compared to 25% of the whole population. When coming to Roma women the gap is even greater because educational abandonment is significantly higher in Roma girls: At age 16 only 52% continue to study, data falling to 25% at 20 years. At the age of 24, only 1.3% of Roma girls have a university degree compared to 27.8% of young women in the population as a whole.

With this project, the 2016/2017 academic year supported the presence in the universities of four Roma women who are attending different Masters in the Universities of Valladolid, Burgos and León.

Besides of showing the artistic legacy of the painter, the objective of this exhibition is to get funding to consolidate the Project and get every year to increase the number of young Roma students.
