Social inclusion [editar]
Our comprehensive services seek to promote constructive coexistence, always taking into account the active participation of community members, and focusing not exclusively on Roma families, but on all those who live in the area, We also aim to respond to their needs based on access to and use of standard services available to all citizens, taking into account the need to bridge the digital divide that the Roma community and other disadvantaged communities are at risk of suffering.
The FSG carries out numerous actions within comprehensive services adapted to the territories where it operates, aimed not only at individual Roma people, but also at families and neighbourhoods as a whole, taking into account the diversity of origins and backgrounds, with special attention and adaptation to key groups such as Roma women and Roma youth.
This comprehensive line of action also includes community-based initiatives, which aim to address all the difficulties faced by the Roma community in the localities or regions where we work. These actions are focused on training and employment, education, working with young people, meeting basic needs, especially those of minors, the advancement of women, health, the prevention of drug addiction and AIDS, access to new technologies, cultural promotion and the fight against discrimination.
The intention is clearly one of normalisation; in other words, we consider these interventions to be a means of compensating for situations of inequality or disadvantage, but ultimately they should become dispensable when reality no longer makes them necessary.
On the other hand, the FSG maintains a line of work focused on assistance, training and collaboration with professionals from public resources or social entities whose final recipients are the Gypsy or Roma communities, so that synergies can be established with these resources to provide adequate responses to their needs.
Political and institutional action in this area is also key to enabling the design and implementation of policies at all levels (local, regional, national and international) that take into account the needs of Roma families.
