Programme Learning by Doing [editar]
An initiative that improves the lives of young Roma through training and employment.
Learning by Doing is a training project that aims to respond to the needs of thousands of young Roma men and women without training or qualifications, from families in situations of exclusion and high social vulnerability, who need to enter the labour market.
In the case of the Roma population, 63% of young people between the ages of 16 and 29 are neither working nor studying, and face unemployment rates three times higher than those of the general population.

Among the key elements that have made Learning by Doing an emblematic training initiative, some of the most notable are that it is aimed exclusively at young Roma, specialising in training for long-term employment. In addition, it creates an innovative methodological model similar to the then-emerging dual training model but adapted to young people without basic academic qualifications, with a design and implementation carried out collaboratively between two NGOs, the Spanish Red Cross and the Fundación Secretariado Gitano.

Another key and essential element is undoubtedly the funding provided by the ESF+ YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMME, co-financed by 'la Caixa', the Ministry of Social Rights through Income Tax and Deloitte. In addition, its origin has also been supported by co-financing from the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, allowing for medium-term planning and stability for the project.
Likewise, the involvement of companies in all phases of the project is another key factor. Learning by Doing has involved some of the most important companies in the training and job placement of young Roma: Carrefour, Alcampo, Ikea, BricoDepot, Eroski, El Corte Inglés, etc.
