Promociona Programme

Promociona Programme [editar]

For the educational success of Roma pupils

The working method includes priority actions and complementary actions.

The aim of the programme is to ensure that more and more young Roma achieve academic success in compulsory secondary education and continue studying, thereby reducing the high rates of school failure.
With a methodology based on the development of personalised educational pathways, it is aimed at the various agents involved in the educational process: the students themselves, families, educational centres and other educational and social agents.
The Promociona Programme is mainly aimed at students in Compulsory Secondary Education who are less than two years behind in their studies.
During the 2024/2025 academic year, work is being carried out with 1 707 students, 1 348 families and 584 educational centres in 51 locations across 13 regions in Spain.

Priority actions

Educational support and reinforcement, guidance for students and families, coordination with educational centres and development of digital skills

Educational support and reinforcement in the Promociona Classrooms, after-school study support spaces. Support is offered to students who attend so that they can complete their schoolwork to a high standard, and their knowledge is reinforced in the subjects they find most difficult.

Individual educational guidance with students and their families, in coordination with educational centres

With students: through individual guidance, in addition to working on curricular and academic aspects, cross-cutting issues (related to the social, family and school context) directly involved in the students' educational pathway are addressed.

With families, regular meetings are held to encourage their involvement in their children's educational process. Work is done on acquiring tools and skills to achieve academic success.

Development of digital skills: development of specific individual and group training sessions in technological skills with students and their families, implementing the ‘FSG Digital Curriculum’.

Complementary actions

Group guidance with students and families, mentoring with companies and/or organisations, peer mentoring, meetings between students and families, and social participation activities.

Group guidance with students and their families, development of group activities focused on topics of interest:

  • With students: secondary school pathways, study techniques, time management, etc.
  • With families: transition to secondary school, available scholarships and grants, tools to support their children, etc.
Mentoring:
  • With companies: development of several sessions in a work environment to motivate students to continue their studies and learn about career pathways first-hand.
  • Among peers: post-compulsory students implement group sessions in which they act as role models for students in the early stages.
Meetings between students and families, spaces for meeting and reflection between students, families and the rest of the educational community, held at local, regional and national level.

Promoting the social participation of students and their families in the life of their neighbourhoods and cities, in collaboration with local entities and organisations. Awareness-raising campaigns aimed at different audiences are also developed.

HIGHLIGHTED RESULTS

During the 2023/2024 academic year, 85.7% of Promociona students graduated from secondary school and 90.1% went on to further education.
