Who we are?

The Fundación Secretariado Gitano is a non-profit inter-cultural social organisation which provides services for the development of the Roma community throughout the whole of the Spanish State and on the European level as well.  It commenced its work in the 60’s and was constituted as a Foundation in the year 2001.

  • Established as a foundation: July 2nd 2001
  • Legal Registration: 28/1223 of October 4th 2001
  • Headquarters: C/ Ahijones, s/n. 28018 – Madrid (Spain)
  • Geographical Presence:
    • European: Transnational projects in collaboration with 12 countries.
    • State Level: Nationwide presence
    • Autonomous Communities: We are present in 14 Spanish Communities.
    • Local: The FSG has 76 local offices carrying out activities in 82 municipalities.         
  • Collaboration Agreements: Nearth 300 agreements were signed during 2007 between the Foundation and several public and private institutions at local, regional and national level.          
  • Programmes: In 2007, the FSG implemented 379 programmes in many different fields and areas.   
  • Beneficiaries: During the year 2007, more than 80.000 direct beneficiaries.
  • Human resources: Permanent staff: 600 people and just about 276 volunteers
  • Economic resources: 19 million euros budget for 2007.
