Cases of discrimination in access to goods and services
On her most recent visit to the social worker, the latter refused to process her public assistance application
arguing that she didn’t need it because she could live with a family member and that she was young and able-
bodied but didn’t want to work. The social worker went as far as to tell this young woman that there was only
one Roma person she trusted (someone she knew and who had worked) and that all the rest were the same, i.e.
they don’t want to work and would rather get by on the dole
