    Countries of implementation
    : France, Romania and Spain.

Implementation in Spain: activities at national and regional level (in Asturias, Valencian Community and Catalonia)

Goals: Promote the continued and non-discriminatory incorporation of Roma children from Eastern Europe, mainly from Romania, into the education system of the countries to which they migrate. To this end, the project seeks to address the difficulties that these minors face when moving with their families within the borders of the European Union in an effort to ensure they continue their compulsory education in the destination country. Specifically, the project's approach takes into account the situation in the country of origin (Romania) and in two common destination EU Member States (Spain and France).

    Lines of work and activities:

    1. Analysis of the main barriers and obstacles and possible solution:

         - For Roma students and their families when accessing and remaining in the education system of the destination country.
         - For teaching staff when addressing the education of Roma students in the education system of the destination country.

    2. Creation of a mechanism for transnational cooperation between the professionals and schools involved in the education of Roma children on the move in these 3 countries.

    3. Strengthening of the teaching skills of education professionals to provide quality and non-discriminatory education to Roma children on the move. They are provided with concrete tools and methodologies through a training programme, the promotion of mutual learning and transnational cooperation.

    4. Awareness-raising campaign to combat prejudices and stereotypes, involving the minors themselves. This campaign is aimed at educational professionals, students and the education community in general.

    5. Advocacy activities at the State and European level to boost enrolment and successful retention of Roma students in schools in the target countries.

    6. Dissemination activities including news, articles, a brochure and a website.
