At Fundación Secretariado Gitano, we are promoting the ‘Roma in Digital’ project to reduce the digital divide and encourage the acquisition of basic digital skills.
By 2026, we will have delivered 12 000 training sessions through free, practical courses on technology, online procedures, digital employment, and internet safety.

Since February 2025, we have been working on the ‘Roma in Digital’ project, an initiative aimed at reducing the digital divide affecting the Roma community in Spain. This programme is part of the Generation D initiative, promoted by Red.es (the entity behind the Digital Agenda in Spain) and the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, and is funded by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan through the European Union's Next Generation funds.

The main objective of the project is to ensure that everyone can learn to use technology and feel comfortable in the digital environment. To this end, eight-hour face-to-face courses are offered, geared towards everyday life with a very practical approach. Topics range from dealing with public administrations and using digital applications for everyday life to searching for jobs online and developing digital businesses.

In addition, fundamental aspects such as internet safety and digital well-being are addressed. The training is free and open to anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in participating.

To showcase everything this project has to offer, eight humorous and informative videos in Spanish have been produced and are already being shared on our social media channels. They can be viewed on the ‘Roma in Digital’ website, where you can also register for the courses, which are taught in numerous cities throughout Spain.

This initiative joins other efforts that Fundación Secretariado Gitano is carrying out to improve the digital inclusion of the Roma community, in a firm commitment to equal opportunities and social inclusion, adapting to the challenges of the digital age.
