Presenting the conclusions on childhood and poverty on World Children's Day [editar]
Boys and girls participating in the Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG) programmes presented the conclusions of the participation process "Childhood and Poverty" to key actors such as the Director General for Childhood and Adolescence of the Spanish Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, Lucía Losviz.
More than 450 Roma children and adolescents from all over Spain have reflected on poverty and how it impacts on their immediate environment, causing inequalities that prevent their full development.
Among other conclusions, these participants, who are representative of Roma children and adolescents, said: "Children should be children. Our families should have peace of mind to be able to support us". "It is not understood that if children do not have a quality of life, we will not create a society and a good and rich future. "We need decent housing to create a decent society. "Lack of minimum resources is destroying our children.”
On 20 November, World Children's Rights Day, the Group of children from Gipsy Participation in Madrid, Michelle, Reyes, Joel, Santos Elías, Ramón and Jonathan, presented the conclusions of the whole process to various authorities relevant to children, such as the Director General for Children and Adolescents, Lucía Losviz.
From the Fundación Secretariado Gitano we ask that this type of spaces where children and adolescents can express their proposals so that the public authorities take them into account when drawing up measures that can eradicate poverty and inequalities, continue to be promoted.
These activities are organised within the framework of the State Programme for the Promotion of the Participation of the Roma Population, financed by the State Programmes of Activities of General Interest considered to be of social interest, corresponding to the Secretary of State for Social Rights, and have been developed in collaboration with the Platform of Children's Organisations.
