In 2026, Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG) will launch a new edition of Training with a Guarantee, a programme that will reach 57 cities and enable 684 young Roma under the age of 30, registered in the National Youth Guarantee System, to strengthen their personal and professional skills in order to improve their access to training and employment.

Two editions in 2026 to expand the programme's reach

The first edition will begin in March and will run simultaneously in 44 cities in 13 Spanish regions. In each city, a pathway with social support will be implemented, in which groups of 12 young people will participate in a structured four-phase process, including activities to improve self-knowledge, develop personal and digital skills and search for employment, training activities and, finally, work experience in companies to put what they have learned into practice.

A second edition, scheduled for September, will extend the initiative to another 13 cities, offering new training opportunities to 156 more young people.

A context of great vulnerability for Roma youth

The employment and training situation of Roma youth in Spain continues to be worrying. Sixty-three per cent of young Roma between the ages of 16 and 29 are neither in education nor employment, and only 17% have completed compulsory secondary education. Added to these barriers are factors such as lack of financial resources and discrimination, which make access to employment even more difficult.

Commitment to labour inclusion

Given this scenario, Fundación Secretariado Gitano continues to foster, through the Acceder Programme, specific measures to promote the labour market inclusion of the Roma, especially the youngest members of the community. In 2026, the Integrated Inclusion Pathways for young Roma and the Programme for improving the employability of young Roma: Learning by Doing and Training with a Guarantee will continue to be developed within the framework of the ESF+ Youth Employment Programme 2021–2027. These actions are also co-financed by the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation.
