Fundación Secretariado Gitano’s TándEM programme receives the visit of the Directorate General of the Spanish State Public Employment Service [editar]

Gerardo Gutiérrez Ardoy, General Director of SEPE, and Belén Rebollo Moral, Deputy Director General for Active Employment Policies, have visited the working students of TándEM in the Fundación Secretariado Gitano headquarters in Madrid.

On 28 March, the TándmEM students of the online format national sub-programmes (”Maintenance of Computer Systems” and “Intercultural and Community Mediation with the Roma Population”) gathered in Madrid, from 27 different cities, to hold one of the scheduled 3-day face-to-face meetings.

The TándEM programme is an initiative of the Spanish State Public Employment Service (SEPE) within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan with NextGenerationEU funds.

The holding of this face-to-face meeting on March has been marked by an important milestone: the transition to the recruitment phase. The students, after an initial 3-month training, become workers of Fundación Secretariado Gitano.

In total, 50 young Roma (28 from the national sub-programmes and 22 from the gardening sub-programmes in Avilés and Lugo) have signed a 9-month, full-time and work-linked training contract, of which 35% will consist of resuming the theoretical training, and 65% left, of carrying out the functions and tasks of the corresponding job: gardening, mediation and computer maintenance.

The visit of Gerardo Gutiérrez Ardoy and Belén Rebollo Moral has been a no less important milestone from this meeting. They have talked with the working students and have been able to see the excitement and eagerness to learn and keep training showed by the Roma young people from the programme.
