This collaboration stems from the desire of both parties to include antigypsyism in all of LALIGA's work to combat hate speech and to use the transformative power of football to improve the lives of the Roma and inspire Roma children and young people.

The agreement provides a framework for collaboration between LALIGA and Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG) to promote equal opportunities and rights for the Roma through training and social awareness-raising against hate speech and discrimination.

Various actions will be carried out aimed at preventing hate speech and harassment in all areas, with special attention to the educational, social and sporting environments.

Both entities share an interest in collaborating to disseminate and reinforce joint initiatives aimed at raising awareness among citizens, particularly young people, about integrity, respect and coexistence, as well as promoting a culture of zero tolerance towards hatred and harassment.

For its part, LALIGA frames this collaboration within its ‘LALIGA VS’ initiative, aimed at preventing and eradicating hate speech in all its forms. Through its commitment to the FSG, it will promote actions that complement our organisation's work in areas such as labour inclusion and academic training, for example, by awarding scholarships at the LALIGA Business School or identifying professional opportunities within the LALIGA ecosystem.

It also undertakes to include antigypsyism as another pillar in its campaigns against racism, xenophobia and hate speech, and to encourage the FSG's participation in events it organises related to the dissemination and visibility of the LALIGA VS platform, where various spokespersons and representatives of the Fundación Secretariado Gitano will be given the opportunity to speak.

In the words of Sara Giménez, director general of the FSG, ‘Fundación Secretariado Gitano welcomes the signing of this agreement with LALIGA, which represents a firm step forward in the fight against hate speech and discrimination in sport. Sport has a unique ability to reach millions of people, especially young people, and can be a powerful tool for promoting coexistence, diversity and respect.’

José Montero, Director of Public Affairs and Institutional Relations at LALIGA, welcomed the agreement. 'For years, LALIGA has had a firm and unwavering commitment to eradicating violence and hate speech in sport. We carry out countless initiatives and actions both on and off the playing field. With the signing of this agreement, the fight against antigypsyism becomes another pillar of our LALIGAVS platform and is also a recognition of the Fundación Secretariado Gitano, which is doing immense work in the fight against discrimination.'
