On 10 and 11 March, Fundación Secretariado Gitano held the first in-person meeting of the SARA Programme 2025-2026 at its headquarters in Madrid, bringing together facilitators and the coordination team in a collaborative working environment.

On the first day, a workshop was held focusing on tools for motivation and positive treatment, alongside various participatory activities aimed at exchanging knowledge and experiences. These sessions highlighted the participants’ knowledge and experiences, particularly from the perspective of Roma women in social work.

The second day focused on addressing the programme’s technical content, such as working with women in FSG, the protocol for responding to gender-based violence, and tools for managing the SARA Programme.

The meeting concluded with a joint evaluation and a group closing activity, establishing itself as a key opportunity to strengthen coordination between teams, foster shared learning and continue advancing the development of the SARA Programme.

What is the SARA Programme

The Sara programme aims to strengthen Roma women’s personal empowerment and economic autonomy through continuous guidance, personalised professional pathways and digital skills training, combining group sessions, individual support and followup actions to help them progress towards genuine social and labour inclusion.
