EURoma Network held its last meeting of 2025 on 26 and 27 November in Turin, where it presented its first case study on the rehousing of a segregated Roma settlement in Collegno. This initiative was presented within the Network's thematic strand on housing and included contributions from regional and local authorities.
The members of the EURoma Network (national contact points and authorities managing the ESF+ and ERDF from ten EU Member States) were joined by representatives of local and regional administrations from the Network countries, specially invited for the occasion, representatives of the European Commission and the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). The FRA provided an overview of Roma housing in Europe and Italy based on the 2024 Roma Survey, supplemented by ISTAT data. The sessions then focused on the Collegno initiative, with stakeholders sharing details on the partnership and coordination of stakeholders, housing solutions and social accompaniment measures for the project's beneficiaries.
The case study also included an on-site visit to the former settlement area and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, along with a conversation with two former residents, who shared their experiences and opinions on this rehousing project. These discussions mark the first step towards future case studies that will form the basis for EURoma's recommendations on desegregation.
The EURoma Management Committee also met to review updates on EU funding, the post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework and actions linked to the National Strategic Frameworks for the Roma. Representatives from the European Commission (DG EMPL, DG REGIO and DG JUST) participated in the meeting.
