Fundación Secretariado Gitano participates in the Permanent Forum of Civil Society against Racism of the European CommissionThis forum aims to be a clearing house and to gather input, views and opinions from stakeholders on key policy areas in relation to the fight against racism and in particular on the current EU Action Plan against Racism 2020-2025.

On this occasion, discussions focused on current EU challenges against racism, synergies with other equality strategies at EU level and support to national efforts against racism.

The consultation included two series of 5 participatory workshops on different topics. In total, ten topics will be discussed. Organisations active in the framework of the Permanent Forum of Civil Society against Racism participated in these workshops together with Commission representatives in charge of anti-racism policies. Of particular note was the participation of the Deputy Director General of the Directorate General for Justice Irene Mozoova. The recommendations emerging from these workshops will be summarised in a conclusions document.

As underlined in the Commission's report on the implementation of the EU action plan against racism, it is imperative to carry forward the momentum achieved and to further strengthen policies, practices and initiatives that have proved their effectiveness, especially in the light of the continuing rise in racist sentiments and racial discrimination.

To this end, the mission letter addressed to Equality Commissioner Hadja Lahbib, Member States striving for equality for all and equality in all its senses will remain central to the Commission's work over the next five years.
