A delegation of the Permanent group on Inclusion of the Roma, from the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) visited FSG to know more about our programmes and approaches for the equality and inclusion of Roma, and to know first hand some of our initiatives.
On Tuesday 19 April, the EESC delegation composed of Alfredas Jonu¨ka, EESC Member, President of the Permanent group on Inclusion of the Roma, Erika Koller, Ákos Topolánszky, both members of the group, and Sabrina Borg, Secretariat of the Section for Employment, Social Affairs and Citizenship (SOC), visited the Fundación Secretariado Gitano in Madrid.
In the first part of the visit, they learned about the more than 40 years of experience of the FSG and the approaches of our programmes, in particular the Acceder employment programme and the recent evaluation of results and impact that was carried out on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the programme.
In addition, they also had the opportunity to talk to participants of the FSG training course on solar panel installation.
We hope that this visit will contribute to the direct knowledge about the reality of Roma people in Spain and about the policies and services that improve the lives of vulnerable people and those at risk of exclusion.
