“Acceder a un Futuro” (Access to a Future), an initiative on social media for young Roma who want to study and get a job [editar]

Through humour, this initiative encourages young Roma to take part in Acceder, the employment programme of the Fundación Secretariado Gitano.

“Acceder a un Futuro” (Access to a Future), an initiative on social media for young Roma who want to study and get a job Acceder a un Futuro, que se ha lanzado en redes sociales, utiliza el humor para animar a jóvenes gitanos y gitanas a participar en Acceder, el programa de empleo de la Fundación Secretariado Gitano. Más de 33.000 personas gitanas lograron trabajo en los últimos 20 años con el acompañamiento de Acceder.

By using social media codes, “Acceder a un Futuro” shows young Roma talking to their "future selves" and projecting a bright future in which they are working in different professional profiles. Using fast-paced, funny dialogues, young people play themselves and briefly explain how they have managed to get a job after going through Acceder, the training and employment programme of the Fundación Secretariado Gitano.

This action on social media is made up of three main videos starring young Roma men and women, but also includes reels with real stories of young people who have completed the programme, graphic carousels with guidelines on how to write a CV, conduct a job interview or practical advice on how to find a job. It also includes an informative brochure in Spanish to be disseminated throughout the offices of the Fundación Secretariado Gitano in Spain.

The project is supported by a website in Spanish, AccederAUnFuturo.org, which facilitates the access of young Roma to the programme. This initiative also seeks the support of Roma influencers and Internet users who want to join in using the hashtag #YoDelFuturo (#FutureSelf).

With this action, the Fundación Secretariado Gitano wants to present and offer training and employment guidance services to young Roma in Spain who are neither studying nor working, so that they can become active. This initiative aims to offer them opportunities that will enable young Roma to join the labour market or the educational and vocational training system. 

 

Acceder, a European reference programme

The Fundación Secretariado Gitano operates a network of 63 teams dedicated to employment guidance and job intermediation, spread over 60 Spanish cities. The main ways of engaging participants are based on street work, mouth-to-mouth and the promotional work of its intercultural agents. In addition to continuing with these channels, the FSG is now launching a campaign on social media, mainly Tik Tok and Instagram, aimed at young people between 18 and 30 years old.

Acceder is a European reference programme, an example of good practice that helps more and more Roma people to make their right to decent work a reality. According to the report of its first 20 years of existence (2000/2020), the programme helped more than 109.875 people, of whom 82.091 have participated in training and employment programmes and, of these, 33.344 have found a job.

This initiative is financed by the European Social Fund, framed in the "Axis 1 of the ESF. Complementary activities of the Acceder and Learning by Doing itineraries". Fundación Secretariado Gitano has received creative support from the agency Implícate.
