The European Union Agency for Human Rights (FRA) publishes its 2022 annual report, including a chapter focused in the situation of the Roma population in EuropeThis year's focus chapter looks at the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on social rights, examining the measures in national recovery and resilience plans which address the social vulnerabilities among a variety of population groups in the EU.

It includes a total of 9 thematic chapters, in addition to the main chapter, covering topics such as the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU; equality and non-discrimination; racism, xenophobia and related intolerance; Roma equality and inclusion; asylum, borders and migration; information society, privacy and data protection; rights of the child; access to justice; and the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The report covers all 27 EU Member States, as well as the Republic of Albania, the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia.

Chapter 5 deals with the situation of the European Roma Population from the perspective of equality and inclusion, focusing on two main issues: the National Inclusion Strategies approved in the Member States and, secondly, what are the main challenges that in terms of employment, antigypsyism and discrimination, poverty, health, housing and education entails the implementation of these strategies, since the pandemic aggravated the situation of the Roma population in these areas.

We thank the FRA for the effort made in this detailed and exhaustive analysis of the situation of the Roma population in particular, as well as the interest shown in making references to reports from Fundación Secretariado Gitano:
