FSG Network of Facilitators gathers to discuss proposals in the framework of the European Year of Youth 2022More than 40 young Roma members of the Facilitators' Network met at the FSG headquarters in Madrid to reflect on the issues affecting them as young European citizens

On 3, 4 and 5 June, the 2nd working session with the Network of Facilitators took place: “European Year of Youth: Roma Youth, Present and Future of Europe”. This was carried out in the framework of the initiative coordinated by the European institutions, which focuses on the importance of European youth to build a better future: greener, more inclusive and digital.

This is the first meeting in which they have been able to get together after the pandemic, so there was a lot of excitement and emotion for meeting and getting to know the new members.

At the Institutional table, they were welcomed by Clara Gonzalvez Meseguer, Head of Service of the International Cooperation Area (INJUVE), who took the opportunity to explain them some initiatives that are being implemented and in which they can participate. Mayte Suárez, Deputy Director General for Participation, Human and Territorial Development, was present at this table to motivate young people to continue participating and to ensure that their voices are heard according to the FSG's policy of promoting participation.

In the working sessions, the young members were joined by José Juan Núñez, from Talent for the Future and Rafael Saavedra, from the International Department of the FSG, to inform them about the European institutions and the youth-related initiatives that are being supported by the European Union.

In addition, we had the presence of Juan Enrique Gallo González, Head of Communication, Treasury and Youth Councils of the Spanish Youth Council, who was in charge of presenting the organisation to the young people of the network and to explore ways of collaboration between the two entities.

The conference will culminate with an event at the European Commission, where young Roma from different localities will be responsible for presenting the conclusions of the work with young people in the territories and in the Network itself.

These activities are organised within the framework of the State Programme for the Promotion of Roma Participation, funded by the State Programmes for Activities of General Interest considered to be of social interest, belonging to the Secretary of State for Social Rights.
