First meeting of the national coordinators selected for the implementation of the new Roma Civil Monitor project

During the meeting, we had the opportunity to take the first steps on the work to be carried out over 2022 but also a global vision of the activities to be carried out until 2025.

Among the first steps of the Roma Civil Monitor (RCM) was the selection of the national coordinators who will carry out the implementation of the RCM project at the national level. This call ended and gave way on last December to a first meeting joined by national coordinators, the RCM consortium and the European Commission, represented through the DG of Justice.

During the meeting, we had the opportunity to take the first steps on the work to be carried out over 2022 but also a global vision of the activities to be carried out until 2025.

The main function of the selected Coordinators is to implement the project activities at the national level, under the guidance and supervision of the RCM consortium. Main task of Coordinatores are:

- Regular reports collecting the opinion of civil society on the application of the National Strategic Frameworks of Roma and the evaluations of related legislative and policy progress.

- Training actions for Roma NGOs to monitor the implementation of the National Strategic Frameworks for Roma Equality, Inclusion and Participation.

- Facilitate dialogue and equitable collaboration between Roma civil society organizations, national contact points, equality bodies and other stakeholders to better address the needs of Roma communities.

During these first days of January 2022, a call for Roma NGOs has been published in each of the 26 states to expand the implementation capacity of the project, through national coalitions. Country monitoring reports will be developed primarily by national coordinators with the participation of their respective national coalition. This participation can take different forms and degrees of intensity, depending on the capacity and mutual interests of each member of the coalition.
