It is now one year since the end of the project Empleando Digital, developed in collaboration between the Fundación Secretariado Gitano and the Spanish Red Cross, with the close collaboration of the Accenture Foundation, and co-funded by the Accenture Foundation and the European Social Fund. During this time, the results and scope of the project have been recognised through various awards (VET Excellence Awards 2019 and Digital Skills Award 2020) and the project has been included in databases and catalogues of good practices (Medici, Digital Skills Map). In the last weeks, the Bilt project, whose aim is to support TVET institutions in addressing challenges that arise due to current global trends, has also included the project in its catalogue of resources and training projects.
In this catalogue, it is recognised the contribution of the Empleando Digital project to reducing the imbalance in the digital society between vulnerable people who suffer from the digital gap (including many Roma people) and the needs and requirements of the labour market and the local industry, by providing digital skills training and employment opportunities that contribute towards social and economic inclusion.
In the two years of development of the project Empleando Digital, it contributed to the improvement of the employability of almost 10,000 people throughout Spain (more than 50% women), including training in digital skills and knowledge, training in software development, adapted to vulnerable people, and courses in traditional occupations that are being modified by technology. More comprehensive information about Empleando Digital and all the results of the project are available in the project web.
