Fundación Secretariado Gitano presents the results and impact of its 'Calí programme. For the equality of Roma women '
  •  The Calí Programme is helping Roma women, one of the most vulnerable groups in society, advance in their right to equality: in the access to employment, in gender equity and in the fight against discrimination.
  • 1,700 women have participated in individual personal development and employment plans in the framework of Calí, 73% of these women live in households where none of its members is in work and 89% have not completed secondary compulsory education. Of these, 245 have found employment and 122 have returned to education.
  • A great contribution and an innovative aspect of the Calí Programme is that the professional team that implements it, is made up of 29 equality professionals, mostly Roma women with higher specialized education.

Over 75 Roma women from all over Spain have participated in the "Walking together" event organised by Fundación Secretariado Gitano to present the results of its Calí Programme, for the equality of Roma women.

Calí is a pioneering initiative that was born in 2016 to promote equal opportunities and socio-labour inclusion of vulnerable Roma women and address the multiple discrimination they face.  The Calí Programme is helping Roma women, one of the most vulnerable groups in society, advance in their right to equality, in the access to employment, in gender equity and in the fight against discrimination. "Today I am working, developing as a hardworking woman, economically independent and enjoying it," said Lidia Muñoz, participant from Madrid.

A great contribution and an innovative aspect of the Calí Programme is that the professional team that implements it is made up of 29 equality professionals, mostly Roma women with higher specialized education.

Calí is a programme of Fundación Secretariado Gitano deployed in 27 localities of 14 regions that supports vulnerable Roma women in their social and labour inclusion, these are women who, due to their situation of particular vulnerability and their low employability, are left out of the mainstream services. The programme aims to promote gender equality, work and life balance and co-responsibility, the defense of the right to equal treatment and end situations of gender violence. A contribution that reduces the gender gaps in the medium and long term and promotes social cohesion and active citizenship.
