A delegation of Fundación Secretariado Gitano takes part in a study visit to the United States organized by the Embassy in Madrid

Fundación Secretariado Gitano participates in a project organized by the US Department of State, through the United States Embassy in Madrid, to gain first hand knowledge about the work done with minorities and immigrants in that country.

As a result of a longstanding collaboration between the FSG and the US Embassy in Spain, an opportunity has arisen to take part in in a programme of visits, organized by the US Department of State, to learn first hand about the work developed by the US administration and many other actors in the areas of social inclusion of minorities policies, fight against discrimination, etc.

The delegation of the FSG is composed of: Fernando Morión, of the Dept. of Education, Carmen Jiménez, Equality Officer of the Calí programme, and Ana Segovia, of the Directorate of Advocacy and Defence of Rights. During three weeks the group will visit 5 States in order to learn and exchange experiences on innovative work methodologies, especially related to inclusive education and in the framework of the defense of the rights of vulnerable people.

As well as to learn about the different realities that make up the educational system in the US and to better understand the policies of positive discrimination with the different minorities, especially with the African-American population, and the work done in the fight for political and civil rights of minorities.
