A delegation led by Portuguese Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality of Portugal, Catarina Marcelino, visited Fundación Secretariado Gitano from 7th to 9th September 2016. During the three days visit, they met firsthand experiences, programs and working approaches of the FSG.

This visit is part of the close relationship that the FSG has with the neighboring country and its social institutions. Among the members of the delegation accompanying Secretary of State there were representatives of the Portuguese government, associations and organizations for employment for the Roma community: Pedro Calado, High Commissioner for Migration; Carlos Nobre, coordinator of the Office of Support for Roma communities; Sergio Ares, president of the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN); Sandra Araujo, Head of EAPN and members of the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) or the Federation of Roma in Portugal (FECALP).

The agenda started with the participation of Catarina Marcelino in the presentation of the Study-Map on housing and Roma, 2015 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health Social Services and Equality where she presided over the inaugural panel with Susana Camarero, her homonym in the Spanish Government, Secretary of State for social Services and Equality.

The 8th of September working sesion started with the presentation of the work in relation to the projects on training and employment that FSG is developing in collaboration with participating companies within the program Acceder or in Learning by Doing. Nine young participants shared their experiences in the company Brico Depot Getafe (Madrid).

In addition, the work developed with children and Roma women were part of the agenda of this third day.
