THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION PUBLISHES A REFERENCE GUIDE FOR PEOPLE WHO SUFFER DISCRIMINATION

The European Commission has published a roadmap that provides citizens with all necessary information to act in cases of discrimination including benchmarks and even some guidance on the economic costs of a complaint process.

Under the title "Know your rights!" the guide also provides information on who to go or how, to encouraging citizens to make public any cases of discrimination they could suffer. In just 20 pages the Commission has sought to simplify all information related to discrimination in all areas and has managed to create an affordable and simple document, accessible to anyone.

Also in this document are provided indications to access European legislation that protects those who suffer discrimination, primarily Directive 2000/43, focusing on racial or ethnic discrimination.

From the FSG we want to contribute in the dissemination of the guide (So far it has only been published in English). It shows that the European Commission continues to be proactive in the fight against discrimination.

All information related to the guide can be located on the website of the Directorate General of Justice, at the following link: https://ec.europa.eu/justice/discrimination/files/150512_rights_against_discrimination_web_en.pdf
