Who are we?

The Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG) is a non-profit intercultural social organisation, which provides services for the development of the Roma community throughout the Spanish territory as well as at the European level. It commenced its work in the 1960s and was constituted as a Foundation in 2001.

  • Establishment as Foundation: 2nd July 2001

  • Headquarters: C/ Ahijones, s/n. 28018 – Madrid (Spain)
  • Fields of activity:
    • European: collaborative transnational projects with partners in 12 countries, with offices in Bosnia Herzegovina and Romania.
    • State: activities througouth the Spanish territory.
    • Autonomous Communities: activities in 14 Spanish Autonomous Communities.
    • Local: the FSG has 76 local offices carrying out activities in 111 municipalities throughout Spain.          
  • Collaboration Agreements: more than 300 collaborative agreements were signed in 2008 between the FSG and several public and private institutions at the local, regional and national levels; the FSG is part of various networks involving more than 60 NGOs.          
  • Programmes: In 2007, the FSG implemented 160 programmes in different fields and areas.   
  • Beneficiaries: 81.802 direct beneficiaries in 2008.
  • Human resources: 1.255 contracts were signed in 2008, making up the stable workforce of the FSG. In 2008, the FSG benefitted from the work of 300 volunteers.
  • Economic resources: the FSG managed a budget that exceeded 20 million euros in 2008.
