Networks and Platforms

The Fundación Secretariado Gitano, while promoting and executing programmes of direct intervention with the Roma community, also assumes its responsibility of promoting its values and mission through an active institutional presence in Spain and Europe. It is therefore active in places, platforms and networks that work in the field of social inclusion, the promotion of the Roma community and the development of more active state and EU policies in these directions.

The FSG participates as member of distinct institutional organisms and councils, through which it promotes policies and programmes that affect positively the Roma community, in Spain as well as in Europe. It is a member of the State Council of Social Action NGOs and of the Social Action NGOs Platform in Spain.

With regards to the Roma community, it is a member of the State Council of the Roma People and of the Consultative Commission of the Roma Development Plan in Spain. It is also present in distinct organisms of Roma participation created in some of Spain's Autonomous Communities: Basque Country, Madrid, Barcelona and Extremadura. 

Its institutional activity is also oriented towards the promotion of and participation in European networks, with both other Roma entities and organisations that work in the field of exclusion, rights, health, etc...:

  • European Anti Poverty Network, as a member of its Executive Committee and participant in the networks created at the autonomous level.
  • European Network on Social Inclusion and Roma under the Structural Funds (EURoma). EURoma, a European Network made up of representatives of twelve Member States, is determined to promote the use of Structural Funds (ESF) to enhance the effectiveness of policies targeting the Roma and to promote their social inclusion. The FSG promoted the creation of EURoma and acts as its Technical Secretariat.
  • the FSG is an active participant in the European Roma Policy Coalition (ERPC).
  • Sastipen (European Network against Drug abuse and for VIH/AIDS prevention in the Roma Community), which was co-founded by the FSG in 1995.
